Admin Console

• (SR) Beautification of Billing

We improved user experience in the billing section (selection of plan, credit card details, etc.) as per observations and your feedbacks. We also identified and solved a problem when attempting to change plan, where it was impossible to enter cards details.

• (SR) Security upgrade

You now have to enter your previous password in order to change it, preventing any involuntary or unwanted change to your account access. Also, now when you change your password, all sessions actively logged on your access get logged-out and need to re-authenticate.

Transformation Engine

• (BT) Face gravity function

You can now use a new face focus and cropping mode to deliver beautiful profile pictures from an image containing a face. This function adds automatic face crop which focuses on the -auto detected- face when possible without zooming (and alternatively, without zooming too much). Doc is here.

• (RI) Responsive JS behavior

Rendering images inside background image now works as intended on few edge cases. This also solves an issue with background images without children.

• (SR) Invalidation with wildcards

We added the possibility to use wildcards syntax for invalidating a list of assets (for example directories) or specific paths (for example location with script files), along with transformations object in order to combine the desired URL for flushing the CDN cache. The addition is readily available both for API calls and via the admin interface. Doc here

Transformation Engine

• (SR) Cropfit function

This new function automates the thumbnails auto cropping if the size is smaller than the container by adding blurred or solid background fill-in. If the original is smaller than the container, you will be able to avoid blurry/distorted images and obtain a correctly proportionate thumbnail. Doc is here.

Plugins & Integrations

• (BT) Magento plugin

We are thrilled to announce that a Magento connection is now available via a plugins on top of the manual integration. This will greatly ease the acceleration of your images and add the long list of our responsive features to transform your images on the fly. The module allows you to further customize with activation/deactivation the following options: Use origin URL (avoid double CDNization), Ignore Image Size Node or Style (for increased themes compatibility), and of course Lazy Loading. You are now able to easily filter the list of logs according to a wide range of criteria (time, status, error type, etc.), so you can quickly pinpoint assets that are invalid. Check it out and give us your feedback: what you would like to see in addition?

• (BT) Improved caching settings

You can specifically set caching intervals at all levels (browser and CDN caches) directly form the console. You cana also direct the refresh from origin at expiration of s-maxage in case the origin has changed, overriding the CDN cache. For more information and configuration details, doc is here.

• (SR) Wordpress plugin v3.0

The long awaited Wordpress v3.0 plugin has landed! We know you were eager to get your hands on our improved Wordpress plugin. With all the new functionalities like “Test Mode” and “Local Library Mode” to save CDN bandwidth, “image_downsize filter” for thumbnails, and many more, it will make your favorite CMS even easier to use. Admin Console

• (BT) CDN Warmup

Cloudimage is now able to automatically cache newly added images, or take in a list of URLs that you specify in the administration panel, to make sure that end users experience the fastest loading times all the time, every time including at the very first load. The most usually requested resolutions will be preloaded everywhere so browsing will be equally fast, even if your image is a brand new version or addition. Doc here.

• (BT) Plan selection

Cloudimage will verify that your selected plan is compatible with the billing type you recorded. The Plan change flow is now smoother and easier to understand and validate.

• (BT) Invalidation for v6

Using a simple selector, rather than crafting an API call, you will now be able to send invalidation request for V6 Invalidation API via the admin interface. This will be the preferred choice for our customers using the v6 version of Cloudimage with URLs in this format: /operation/size/filter/original-image-url. Doc here

Miscellaneous

• (RI) Phone number verification for MFA

Multi Factor Authentication was sometimes failing due to a wrongly entered phone number. Now Cloudimage MFA is checking consistency and allows you to dry test your number so you can be sure that when you have to use it (eg. reinitialize your password) you will be able to receive the code and verify your identity.

In future, we might also use the combination of RI/BT, which identifies Resolved Issues requiring more input from customer testing based on their specific use cases.

Transformation Engine

• (SR) Responsive Smart Cropping

Shows the most interesting part of an image even when users reduce their window/screen size. The cropped image will always and automatically focus on the point of interest of the image. Doc here.

• (SR) Watermark positioning

Dynamically watermarks all images in a folder and its subfolders according to a pre-defined watermark gravity. Watermarks will always remain in the right place and shape whatever the future image transformations. Dynamic watermark prevents the watermark from being distorted if the picture is for example cropped or resized. Doc here.

Plugins / Integrations

• (BT) Cloudimage Ruby GEM (for Ruby v2.4+) and Shrine toolkit

We are excited to announce the new Cloudimage Ruby GEM to simplify the integration of Cloudimage resizing, compression and CDN acceleration into Ruby apps. Tested with Ruby 2.4+, JRuby and TruffleRuby and Shrine GEM. Doc here for GEM and here for Shine toolkit.

Issues with background images with 4.6.0 (low quality image placeholder) where resolved with the 4.6.1 (ie. using: ci-bg-url="x.jpg"). Doc here.

We are excited to announce the launch of the Vue.js version of the Cloudimage Responsive Images plugin! More information, documentation and demo on the Scaleflex GitHub page.

• Fixed an issue where certain accounts with non-validated email addresses where flagged as inactive

New versioning

With this version, we introduce a new versioning system to align with our new monthly release strategy. Versions will be in the format YY.MM.N where YY is the year, MM the month and N the release version. N=0 for GA (General Availability) and N>=1 for bugfix releases.

The version will usually be called by it's short name, e.g. 2005.

Sign-in with Google

• Users can now register using their Google account via oAuth2
• Registered users can now login with their Google account via SSO

Stats summary in Home

• Users can now see an overview of their Cloudimage usage statistics in the Home page

Improvements

• Added social media buttons for sharing affiliation link easily via social media
• Removed the option for deleting/editing CNAMEs under Image Settings > Domains to prevent future issues. Changes in CNAMEs can be achieved by opening a ticket with our Support.

New Support Center for STARTUP+ customers

• Users can view the tickets opened by them and other users from their company under Contact / Support > Support tab. Answering tickets from the new Support Center will be added in a future version (Support Center is only available for STARTUP+ customers)

• Fixed issue with field validation
• Fixed globalization issue in Toast messages

• Adapted Uploader styling to match with overall Admin style guide
